My Story:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, where do I begin? Before Christ came into my life and took the blinders off my eyes, I was a child of wrath, lying about in my own filth and sin. But God, being rich in His mercy and love, sent his Son Jesus, who humbled Himself by taking on human form and becoming obedient to the point of death. His life and death accomplished something for me that I could NEVER do on my own. I could have never been righteous or in right standing with God on my own, but because Jesus came, death and sin has lost its sting in my life! Praise God!

I was blessed to grow up in a family with parents who feared and revered the name of Jesus. While I can't remember the exact moment of my salvation, I do remember two instances in which my father lead me to Christ. I remember being sad that I was unable to participate in communion at church, so I asked my dad about it, in which he shared the gospel with me. I also vaguely remember sitting in my room with my dad, staring at my wall trying to ponder these thoughts he was imparting to me. I obviously didn't know much, but it was clear to me that my heart was being drawn in by Him.

Since then, it's been a crazy long process of the Lord teaching me over and over how dependant I need to be on Him. I have also been blessed to have incredible men of God disciple me and teach me to understand what the scripture says and how it teaches me to live. It's crazy to look back and think of the men along the way who have taken their time to invest in my and teach me about the Lord! Thank you Lord!

I began playing my guitar in high school, and over time traded lessons and tricks with my best friend in hope to pick up a thing or two on the piano. I started really writing songs in college, and, wow…what wonderful songs they were! Well…at least, they were a sweet sound to the Lord, because they were from my heart! My friends still make fun my song entitled “God's Heartbeat” on the album “I Heard Something,” which featured a rhythmic heartbeat pattern pounded out on the acoustic guitar. Haha!

The songwriting process is another slowly progressing aspiration in my life. It's my desire to write songs with deep Biblical truth that can be sung in corporate settings in order to lift up a song of praise to the Lord for who He is and what He's done! I think I've at least learned which songs I never need to shown to anyone! …the rest of them, I run by my song writing friends Amy and Chann, and by my pastors just in case I would happen to write something heretical… thank goodness I haven't done that yet! :)

I LOVE music…and specifically “worship” music. I've been blessed to grow in my musicianship and worship leading over the years serving with a college ministry in Ohio called ONE80, and serving in many different youth retreats/conferences with Mile5. It was an amazing time in my life, and now I'm blessed to be serving with incredible musicians in an awesome community of believers at our church! There's so many amazing things that happen in the scriptures with worship through song! The Lord uses it in war, He uses it to tear down walls, and He even shakes the prisons and break the chains that keep us bound! Sometimes I think I forget just how important the songs we sing are on Sunday morning! The Lord does something special in times of corporate worship! The Psalms exhort us to praise him with a loud noise and on stringed instruments!

Meditate on the words you sing and ask God to move in a mighty way as you sing to Him! For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised! Splendor and Majesty are before Him; Strength and Beauty are in His Sanctuary!
